Spring has sprung!!

Before  we know it, our gardens will be overwhelming us with their bounty, and we will be faced with the dilemma of what to do with all of it!

Rhubarb is definitely not for everyone, but it is an easy crop to grow and prospers in a variety of locations. This recipe is guaranteed to please even those who may not care for it.

We do have a rhubarb plant, but I’m not sure I can get 4 cups. May have to make a mini rhubarb pie! LOL

Try giving it a healthy dose of 5-10-10 fertilizer. That usually makes mine take off when it starts getting lazy.

Isn’t rhubarb more of a tart sweet vs a sugary sweet?

Yes it is extremely sour. I can’t detect any sugar content at all. You have to add a ton of sugar when preparing it.

How I wish I could get rhubarb! I love it. Grocery stores used to have it in the spring, but I haven’t seen any in years.

My mom did too and ate lots of it just cooked and served with milk and sugar or just sugar. It’s so different when made into the crisp. You might like it that way if you like fruit desserts in general.

My mom made it in pies with strawberries. I always told her it was a waste of good strawberries!

Hahaha! I see your point! I don’t eat a whole lot of rhubarb but I make the crisp dessert at once during the season.

I’m in the not for me camp. I’ve tried to like rhubarb but I just don’t, lol.

That’s usually the way it goes. Those who don’t like rhubarb are very emphatic about it! lol
