A garden surprise this morning.
This is another of my cultivars that was nothing special… just a nice lily,
but today it decided to be different.
I guess even day lilies get bored once in a while
(Both flowers are in the same clump)

They are lovely blooms. I have given up on flowers and bulbs where we live, as the soil is mostly gravel.

I can understand that. When I started my garden, It was in soil that had been graded down 20 feet or more in places, to level out the site for our house. There was nothing but yellow dirt and rock.
Twenty+ years later, I have about 10 inches of top soil over the whole area that is almost rock free and I can work it with my hands. It has been a struggle, but was made possible by lots of hard work and compost.
