Good Morning World!

It’s going to be another gorgeous March day! The sun is shining brightly, and although it was a bit nippy last night, it’s warming up nicely. (9:40 am) and 34°.

April is almost here and it’s time for some serious veggie garden planning.

Garden veggies from past years.

Cabbage: Stonehead …plants are up and growing in the greenhouse.

Granddaughter, Gina in potato patch.

Potatoes: Kennebec…will be planted on “Tater Day” April 10. I buy a fifty pound bag and plant about twenty pounds of them. The rest are perfectly safe to eat and are thoroughly enjoyed after having only the unsavory offerings that come from the grocery store.

Leaf lettuce: Old heirloom “Black Seeded Simpson” can’t be beat. A new favorite is “Green Ice”, similar in taste and texture with a bit thicker leaves.

Peas: “Sugar Snap”: Just a few so that the grandkids have a treat to eat straight from the vine. None of us care much for them cooked.

Onions: “Stuttgarter”, a very cold hardy Dutch onion that rarely ever has a bloom stalk. They make good sized onions and are a great keeper!

Coffee on the front porch is a must!!

Happy Gardening, Friends!!

You will be busy, Vero and all that work definitely deserves a coffee break on the porch 🙂

Fresh from the garden is so much better than store bought! I’m glad you have the space to plant lots of great vegetables. 🙂

Me too Barbara. I would love the simpler life of living in town, but I could never give up my country life and my garden.

Holy cow Vero! Your potato patch is huge!! What do you do when they are ready to be harvested? Do you do it by hand and by yourself? I love taters and am always looking for new ways to enjoy them!(hint hint)😂

    You are truly blessed!!🌞☕💜

Yes I dig them a few at a time and make sure to have them all out by the time the ground freezes. They stay nice and firm while in the ground.

I’d love to come sit on the porch and drink coffee with you. Consider me there in spirit!

That’s quite the beautiful garden you have going on there! Makes me want to plant something but I’m in a duplex. It could be potted!

I would love to have you join me. I hear that lots can be grown in pots. That’s one thing I haven’t done much of, but I’m willing to give it a try.
