Mystery solved, The whatsit is definitely a lily. (Have no clue how it got there or which one it is.)

    Oh wow! Looking at that foliage, I am guessing an Asian lily of some sort. I am looking forward to seeing the blooms 🙂

    That is odd. It looks more like a Grecian windflower (Anemone) to me.

      Yes the purple flower is an anemone. The subject of the photo is supposed to be the little purple bulbs that are just starting to sprout. I guess I should have cropped the anemone out. It is confusing everyone. Sorry bout that!

      The little purple things with spiky leaves are the whatsits. The flower is an anemone that is sharing the space.
