The daylilies have all put on their last performance for the year, so it’s time to clean up their spent foliage and give them a boost feeding for next year’s blooms.
One clump completed (out of 50+).
Little Grapette is a smaller lily that blooms heavily and multiplies rapidly.

Deer sure do love to eat day lilies. I have two large dogs that run loose at night so deer aren’t much of a problem for me.
At one point I had an indoor/outdoor cat and he didn’t chase them off at all. I think they would chat around the pond.
I can very well see a cat doing that!
That is a cute little one.
Small (about three inches) but mighty. Nice deep color and lots of detail!

Do you cut them back now?
Fertilize?
Yes. I cut them back as soon as about half the old foliage has turned brown. I just give them a sprinkle of a general purpose fertilizer.
