My daddy always told me if I wanted to catch a bird, to go out and sprinkle salt on it’s tail. I’d hate to say how many times us kiddos tried that before it soaked in that he was really pulling our legs!

In case you’re wondering, the point is that if you can get that close to a bird then you should be able to catch it.

Wonder if that same thing works with water???

Today while watering my front porch flower boxes, I dumped water on a wren and her nest of four eggs!!!

(I don’t know who was the most surprised… me or the wren!!)

I have no idea how she was able to hide and build that nest, and lay all those eggs without me knowing she was doing it.

The planter box is really crowded and over grown, and that nest was practically invisible.

Another one for “Truth is stranger than fiction”!

LOL I’m sure there’s no doubt about how she felt!!!! Scared the daylights out of me when she took off!

Awww, poor birdie. I guess it’s just like a downpour so she should have been ok except for the shock of seeing you!

Yes I really felt sorry for her, but it couldn’t be helped!

An unexpected rain shower for the bird, no doubt.

🤭🤣I hope she doesn’t give up and abandon those eggs. I usually tear the nests out as soon as she starts building, but I will leave this one alone.

I had the same thing happen to me only it was a hanging planter hanging on my front porch! It wasn’t eggs but chicks that were very quiet. I felt bad and never watered it again……🤦‍♀️🤷

Oh no!!! Poor babies! I am going to water very carefully so as not to disturb her again.
