On the back of the house, I have a large deck that at one time got lots of sun. Now It is shaded for most of the day due to mature trees.

Heavy paw paw crop that year.

I have the two flowering crab apples plus several wild Paw Paw trees which I grew from seed after the very first one was transplanted from the woods.

Well, color me ignorant, but what’s a paw paw? I remember the song but never knew what they were!

Do you eat the paw paw fruit?

    1. Vero Avatar

Yes. I love them when they are just at the perfect stage of ripeness.

      It is.
I can’t sit still for long though. I sit there and start looking around at all that needs doing, lol

Oh, so nice. I love sitting out under a big shade tree. We have Paw Paw trees here in Arkansas but not in my area of the state. If I have ever seen one I did not know it. 😊

They are a gorgeous tree. They have short lives and get tall but not very large in diameter. The leaves turn a beautiful shade of gold in autumn.

That must be part of why the colors of autumn in the northern part of our state are so gorgeous. We have beautiful colors here in the central part too, but not the variety that is up north. People come from other states to see the autumn beauty in northwest AR.

We can buy a variety of fruit from around the world but I have never seen paw paws in our stores. Are they comparable to any other fruit?

    1. Vero Avatar

I don’t think paw paws are sold very much in stores. There is no other fruit that is very much like them. The closest thing, flavorwise, is an over-ripe banana. In fact Paw paws are affectionately known around here as West Virginia Bananas.

I bet it’s a cool place on a hot day.

Yes, it’s comfortable out there on all but the hottest days.
