Funny story about my mother’s coffee can of bacon grease. When we moved to Maine one was installed under the sink. But a short time later a mouse found the can, unbeknownst to my mother… who then pour more grease in the can.
It did not end well for the mouse.

My mother also used lard. It made the best pies.
