At one time, our local community park held auctions every Saturday night. They rented the kitchen and sold refreshments. I got the job of running the kitchen. I was paid a small fee, but I would have worked for nothing just for the fun. Auctions can be exciting and quite addictive!

The hot dogs they had me serve were the best ever!!!

I talked the lady into giving me the recipe for her secret sauce. It is almost identical to the original “Coney Dog” sauce from “way back when”!

HOT DOG CHILI

1 pound ground beef
1 medium onion diced finely.
1 twelve ounce can of tomato paste
2 to 3 cans of water. (Start with less and add as needed )
1/2 cup catsup
1 teaspoon vinegar
1 1/2 teaspoons chili powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon brown sugar

Do not brown the beef!
Combine all ingredients in pot and simmer for 1 1/2 hours adding water as needed to keep from sticking and burning.

I would love a hotdog right now and that sauce sounds yummy. I eat hot dogs a lot in the summer.

Now I’m hungry. We used to have a great hot dog place here. The hot dogs were meaty and skinny will leather strips. They closed. Still looking for a good one! This recipe sounds like the stuff they put on top.

I don’t think there’s any better sandwich than a really good hot dog. I buy Ball Park Franks and sometimes split one in half for a skinnier dog.
I’ve been craving one since yesterday! lol

I don’t think I’m 55…I still think I’m in my 20s, but my knees say otherwise lol

LOL It’s strange how that works. When I was in my late 40s, my knees hurt me like crazy. Now they are fine.
Getting older…even lots older…doesn’t change how you feel inside. I don’t feel 20, but I do feel about 45. Mature yet interested in everything and still able to do anything I want.

I feel great. I never smoked and I am one of the few people in the world who has never tasted alcohol. I eat anything I want, and weigh around 120 all the time. I do try to limit sugar and salt, and I gotta have my coffee!

I totally get. I have not been that healthy in my lifetime and I must have my caffeine in all its forms.

Sorry you have had bad times. I know that can really take a lot out of you. Yes that caffeine is a necessity. At one time I was a Pepsi drinker along with the coffee, but for some odd reason I never have much desire for soda of any kind any more. I drink four cups of coffee a day.

No bad times…all my own doing and being a server on my feet all day long was another factor

Slaw on a hot dog, that is a new one to me, but I recently had slaw on a pulled pork sandwich and it was delicious!

Same concept. I’m surprised hot dogs aren’t sold that way where you are since it is so close. It’s very common all over WV, and has been as long as I can remember.
