West Virginia has some unique churches, and at one time you could find a congregation in every little hollow. It was a Sunday meeting place for almost everyone that lived within walking distance.

Lots of them have now fallen into a state of disrepair, due to lack of community interest.

This one is still standing proudly on the hill and has a nice-sized faithful congregation.

The picture has been tweaked a bit in Photoshop, but it is a picture I took during a parade in the tiny town.

It’s in a tiny little town that is just a speck on the map…what you would call a burg. Nice people and a pretty good attendance.

That is a beautiful little church. I like the way the older church buildings were rather than most of the ones I see today. We still have three churches in the city that are over 50 years old.

I agree. I like the older buildings better too. There are some around here that are over 100 years old. The church I attended as a child was built around 1900.

There are some over a 100 here too but not in my city. They just don’t build things like they did in the past.

I love old churches. It’s easy to picture all the wonderful faithful who attended them.

Good morning Jan! I know what you mean. So different from modern day buildings. (The hard unpadded benches kept you awake! lol)

While I’m not a religious person, that is a lovely church.

My father was a Baptist country preacher. He didn’t try to force religion on anyone and lived his life in such a way that it was his most successful sermon.☺️ I try to do the same!

what a beautiful church. It’s sad to me that so many don’t want to attend little country churches anymore. I love my little country church 🙂

Thank you Jean. I have gone to church most of my life. I taught a teen Sunday school class for 20 years. I love the little churches too and agree that it’s sad so many of them are now closed.

And it appears I have shared this before. I didn’t realize that I have posted so many things here. It seems like just last week that I opened the site. Time is definitely flying by.
