Well, I think I figured out why my weather station rainfall measuring gauge stopped working,
I first noticed it when, after dumping almost two inches of water out of the manual gauge, the electronic one was showing zero!
I went to check it out and found that the entire unit had been swallowed up by a Cinnamon Vine.( Dioscorea polystachya) Common Name(s): Chinese Yam, Cinnamon vine.
I grabbed my pruners and gave the vine a drastic haircut. I also sprayed and chased out the colony of ants that had decided to move in as well.

Seems like you understand your gauges. You could keep on making mental adjustments.

I think it will work ok now that I have it uncovered. I suspect a few leaves may have been blocking it all along and I just didn’t notice. I need to move it to a more open location.

Good save of the electronic rain gauge! Are the two gauges generally in agreement?

The electronic one usually shows a bit less but I have learned to anticipate that and adjust. I think the post might just need leveling.
