One of my large flock of guineas made a nest over behind the barn and hatched out a bunch of babies. After she left the nest, I checked it and found a tiny dead baby lying there. As I started to walk away, I SAW IT MOVE!
I gathered it up, took it to the house, and put it in a box on a soft cloth under a warm lamp.
It soon perked up, and indicated it wanted to snuggle under my hand when I would reach in the box.
I soon discovered that I was MAMA!
Guineas are normally very skittish from birth/hatching out, and want nothing at all to do with humans. Even when tiny, they scatter when anyone comes near them.
Not this new baby!!! It LOVED me!!!
I don’t know if it was possibly brain-damaged or if I was just the first thing it really came in contact with, but I was MAMA!
I remained MAMA throughout it’s life. When it saw me it came running. It loved to come in the house and would race across the room and leap into my lap, snuggling against my neck.
Hard to believe, I know, but every word is the honest truth!!
My miracle baby!!
I have pictures of all this, but they are of the old-school paper ones so I will have to find and scan them. I will add them in here when I get them converted to digital.
