Most of the older homesteads around the area where I live have hardy heirloom flowers growing here and there that have been around for well over a hundred years.

One of them is a large “double” yellow daffodil…growing much like any other, except that the flowers have multiple layers of petals.

One of my garden club friends had them growing on her farm and I got permission to dig up a clump to establish at my house.

That was around fifteen years ago and, since then, they produced only one or two sporadic blooms.

I determined they must not like where I put them, so last fall I moved a clump to an area that gets full sun.

I checked them yesterday and ….VOILA!!! Flower buds!! (I counted six so far)

Is that wild strawberry coming up with them? I’m with Rivergirl. You are ahead of me weather-wise but almost all our snow is gone. Only the mega piles at the shopping centers are hanging around.

It’s Ground Ivy. Has tiny little purple flowers on it all summer. Grows and spreads like wildfire!!
Hope you guys get some nice warm weather really soon!

Things are just starting to come out here. I saw three different wild flower blooms and a couple of crocus plus the helebores.
