    One of the baristas at the local Starbucks is called Vero. She said it’s short for Veronica. Her mom named her after the character in the Archie comics (or so she says). She’s in her early 20s so I was surprised she even knew Archie comics.

      LOL that is surprising! Mine is short for “Veronique”. It is actually a pen name but a reference to my real name. It got shortened to Vero over the years because no one could spell it, Originally it was “veronique_mariquita” .
