The subject has come up recently of old stores and their merchandise, and how enjoyable it was to browse through all the isles where just about everything could be found.

I have such a store in a small town near me that has been in the same family for many years. The owners have tried to keep it as original as they possibly can.

We visit the store every year or so. My granddaughter thoroughly loved looking at all the cute little gadgets.

      Thank you Hazel. She had a touch of sunburn in this picture. We had been out in the fresh air all day. She is a wonderful girl…almost like my own daughter. I raised her while my daughter attended college.

      Yessss. I can remember the first time my city aunt took me to town and I went into a five and dime.

    We used to have smaller stores like that with a variety of items. One of my favorite wishes when I was a kid was to win a free shopping spree in that favorite store. 🙂

          My travelling days are over too. Even a thirty mile trip is more than I want to do these days. I’m quite content with my yard and garden, and letting the younger crowd do all the shopping.
